What happened to Darrell Waltrip?

I haven't watched NASCAR racing in a while. Where's DW at? I miss the old "BOOGITY! BOOGITY! BOOGITY! LET'S GO RACING BOYS!"

DW only commentates for FOX. Right now the Cup Series is on TNT, so you won't get to see DW until next year at Daytona. This year Fox has the first 13 races, then TNT has 6 and ESPN has the last 17. Starting next year, Fox has the first 16 and NBC will have the last 20.

Indeed FOX will be back next year. They signed an 8 year deal at the beginning of this season to broadcast the first half of the season. DW is along for that ride, and can still be found on SPEED which is part of the FOX network.

Aside from Fox's part of the season is over, rumor is DW will no longer be a part of the play-by-play booth for Fox next year. All we know for sure is that Fox will shake up it's on-air talent next year. Mike Joy will still be lead pxp, but who will be with him is the question.

DW isn't exactly popular among fans as a broadcaster anyway. He's often wrong and not up to speed with what's going on.

Source(s): Hints dropped by media on Twitter. I'm also a member of the Nascar Fan Council. A few years ago we were asked about the ESPN broadcast team, shortly after that survey they ditched Marty Reid and promoted Allen Bestwick. We've been asked about the Fox broadcast team recently, so it's likely they are gathering data to support changes.

FOX, where DW works only covers the 1st 13 races a season, which have already passed. TNT cover the next 6 (where we are now) & then ESPN/ABC cover the remaining starting from Indianapolis.

He went to jail for fellating Danica Patrick in public. Don't worry, his butt is safe on me in prison.

Isn't it nice not to have to listen to his B.S. ?

You can remember while he is gone though, Danica is wonderful.
