LDS:Have you ever been lectured about how you are going to hell?
How did you reply?
Today in church the speaker quoted J. Golden Kimball who upon being told he was going to Hell for being a Mormon, listened to the fellow who was a minister of another denomination and replied "I'd rather go to hell for being a Mormon than be a minister who didn't know where in Hell he was going" I guess the point of the talk was that most Mormons would never be as forward as he, never being so Unchristian as to so judge another.

Oh yes, it was a young couple attending a Bible College who were the apartment managers where I lived. Came to my door one day and told me I was going to go to hell for being Mormon. I didn't think that was a very Christian attitude, but they insisted I would not know a Christian attitude because I wasn't Christian. What a stunning example of Christianity. I looked at them and decided if that was what Christians were like, I didn't want to be one.
Later I realized that that was not what Christians were like.

Many times!
But the best was on my way home from my mission, after a cold reception by a woman and her son from NYC to St. Louis near the end the woman just opened up on me about how horrible it was that I served a mission and how I'm going to hell for it and what a waste of time I had spent out there.
Now, I went to Italy, so it's not like I wasn't used to people coming down hard on me, I just took it with a smile.
So before the plane lands a woman in front of me undoes her belt with rage in her eyes, I'm sitting there thinking "oh great, I'm gonna get surrounded now, oh well" - well she introduces herself as a member of the church and reports that she heard the entire conversation and tears the other woman apart in every way for being judgmental and mean and not knowing a thing about the church - she just ripped her up and down to the point where the other woman could hardly even mutter an apology to me, about the same time the guy on the other side of me says "yeah, that baptist woman is a real biotch" and goes off on her too.
So yeah, I've heard it many times, but that one was the funniest.

I actually haven't been told that by a Christian to my face, though my kids have been told that numerous times. They have learned to shrug it off, realizing that it's often said out of concern. My daughter, for some reason, gets confronted the most. She has learned the most effective response is to simply thank them for their concern. I don't think witty replies are any more productive than Christians telling others they are going to Hell.

When I was still Mormon, I have been told that, yes. As an atheist now though, I'm still told that actually.

I don't consider that a particularly witty response, but whatever. Just believing in Hell at all is judgmental.
