Looking for interesting book?

Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck. A true classic, and about two brothers in conflict, with both misunderstood, and a tragedy. I mean, how could you ask for more? The title comes from a line in a poem by Robert (Bobby) Burns: "The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft agley" That's the Scottish he wrote, but in standard American English, it turns into: "The best laid plans of mice and men/often go awry."

One problem with it, though, is that it's really a novella, maybe 100-140 pages. Others:

The Sound and the Fury, by William Faulkner, one of the great American novels, by possibly the most literate novelist in the 20th century (in the U.S.)

The Brothers Karamazov, by Fyodor Dostoevsky--rather long, though, and lots of Russian names; one of the world's greatest novels.

If these are too "heavy," I'll think of some more.

The Sound and the Fury? It is narrated by a few different people. Some bad and some good! A truly phenomenal book!

Hate between brothers you say? Well, this book isn't really about hate between brothers, rather a wholly misanthropic, a bit absurdist, outlook on life, but The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt is phenomenal! In my opinion, a contemporary classic!

Garfield. Plain and simple

Hate between brothers... Oh have I got a series for you! The Mortal Instruments. The plot is very detailed, so you don't get to the 'hating' part until two books in, but I'm rereading the series and I'm on book four and I just started last weekend. They are very good!
