Credit card only billed me minimum amount?
Hi, I had just gotten my first credit card last month and I set it up to pay off the whole balance every month instead of the minimum amount. I'm trying to build my credit. For some reason even though I set up the repeated payments for the whole statement. They only took out the minimum for the first month. I called and couldn't understand a word the person was saying so that didn't help. I just don't know if I should be worried that something fishy is going on. Would that harm my credit at all for only paying the minimum? What are your thoughts? Its a Barclay MasterCard if anyone wants to know

It is never a good idea to set up auto payments for your credit card, especially if you do so thru the card's website. You have encountered just one problem. The list of potential problems is very long and even tho it's the card site that screwed up, you will be held responsible. Terminate that auto pay and just pay the statement balance when you receive it.
You should be checking that statement anyway. It's not uncommon for some scammers to charge small amounts on credit cards to see if they go thru ... you have to catch and report errors and unauthorized charges within 60 days.
I suggest you use your bank's online billpay to pay the credit card and all your other bills. Most banks offer it free of charge. You can schedule bill for payment and even set up recurring payments. Yet you have complete control and a record. You can change or delete a payment up to a couple days before the due date. Much better than allowing the creditor to pull money from your account.

1. You clearly got the set up wrong - you need to contact them and get that sorted. If the phone doesn't work, go into the bank.
2. It won't effect your credit - you paid what you were required to pay, so there is no black mark.

It harms your credit because you have debt on regular basis; it helps them take more in interest from you. Pay it all now, and if it happens again, cut up card, but don't cancel.

It won't harm your credit, but obviously you get finance charges. If you are having problems, it could be your bank that is messing up. Check with your bank first to make sure that the entire balance is being paid.

It won't harm your credit.
It will result in you being charged more interest.
