Can the PS4 be considered a failure; or is it too early yet to ask?

It's way too early, but honestly, what criteria are you using to determine if it's a failure?

By this time in the PS3's life, it was being outsold by not only the Xbox 360 but by the PS2 as well. About now was also when the head of Sony US made his infamously stupid comments about how he would pay anyone $100 for every 20GB PS3, and $150 for every 60GB PS3 they could find unsold in stores. Well, if you went to any BestBuy, Costco, Target, KMart, Gamestop, you name it, you could easily find stacks and stacks for PS3s just sitting there.

Meanwhile, the PS4 is outselling the XB1 and even that doesn't mean anything because none of the big games for either console are due until 205.

    So....how is the PS4 a failure?

What are even basing such an assumption on? You really need to elaborate more. Your question looks like a wildly random speculation. PS4 is far from a failure.

The PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U are doing rather fine. Could be better, of course, but all in due time. If Sony and Microsoft would quit marketing such generic BS games that you've seen 100 times over again, they could be doing much better. Also having more than two or three decent games for 2014 and not put everything off for 2015/2016, would do them some good, too. Some thinking ahead would of been nice. Why bother buying a new console for a game that will be released to one you already own? Improved graphics aside, some more incentive could of worked better for them.

No. The PS4 has sold 7+ million so far which is more than even Sony expected. We're still in its first year as well. I'm glad Sony didn't repeat the mistake of being a year later than Microsoft or sticking a ridiculous price tag on it like they did with the PS3.

How can it be considered a failure? It is clearly the most successful console of its generation, the sale figures prove that. Whether it is a better console than others of its generation is purely a matter of opinion. None of the consoles have been a failure as they all have really good sale figures, if you was to rank them to how well they have succeeded it would go PS4>Xbox One>Wii U but none are classed as failures.

I don't know much about the PS4 but I've played it once or twice. I don't know why everyone is giving **** about the XBOX One but I prefer XBOX. It may be more money but i f you are really interested in gaming then get the One but PS4 is the cheaper more casual system. I wouldn't call it a failure because it is doing much better than its rival consoles.

So far it's been a huge success but we're less than a year into the console's life.
