If the name" Redskins " is disparaging to Native American's what about ?

The 59 High School teams across the Nation with the name Redskins, or the 13 teams with the name Redmen, or the 11 High School teams with the name Savages ? Shall we just change them all ? Or is this political correctness run amok ?

59 High School teams across the Nation with the name Redskins,

59??? Wow . . . . I wouldn't have believed that many public schools would be heartily celebrating the "skinning and scalping" of the Native people.

A practice of this country's forefathers to rid the continent of their "Indian problem" while providing an income for their people. The Indians were called "savages" to ensure they got what they deserved.

Yeah I can see how they would want to celebrate annihilating the American Indians. For the Whites It was a win win situation.

As far as I'm aware, the only organization of any kind that still uses the term Redskins for their team name is the NFL team. All the high school and college team names have been changed to my knowledge.

I think you said it wrong; you should have said SINCE the name redskins etc etc. Then you would have been more accurate.

Source(s): Calif NDN, not your redskin

  • Yes. They should ALL be changed.

Wouldnt be an issue were it any other ethnic group other than Indians, would it?

So your argument against change is that there would be too much to change? Try again.
