Has there ever been a more courageous and inspiring leader than Jonathan Brown?
It's really not surprising, but still to see a man like him go out is always sad

Fantastic career as a player and a leader. Will be sorely missed. In his prime (2005-2009) he was undoubtedly the best power forward in the game. He got numbers that no other player in the game, then or since, can match. See for yourself - http://afltables.com/afl/stats/players/J/Jonathan_...

Surprising when I looked up his stats that he missed so many games to only tally 256 games in 14 1/2 seasons and yet still be leading goal score in the Lions era of the club with 594 goal / 325 behinds.
As you said he stands head & shoulders over the rest for courage & inspirational leadership in the AFL era
but I wouldn't go beyond that time frame. The sad part really is that now, of all times, is when they need him most.

Busy at the moment Whay. will get back to you on this one O.K. but great question that i hope many will answer.
Sorry for taking so long but have been up the hospital. i really don't have much more to ad to what most have said. but for the future. Jonathan Brown is a unique individual with a very dry Aussie sense of humour. hope he gets a job in television doing AFL. it's what our sport is crying out for.
Cheers.

A true legend of the game. The most courageous of his time. He was something of a throwback to the 70's the way he went about it. The game is poorer for his retirement.

Farwell Browny, stellar career....sad it ended this way but seemed an inevitable outcome considering the way he played.
