When do you think i'll get my first period? GIRLS ONLY?
I'm 13 and i am getting some first period signs and I was wondering if someone might be able to tell by things i'll tell you.
i've been having the white/clear discharge for around 5-6 months now, i have pretty much full grown pubic hair, some underarm air, but barely any breast development just kind of breast buds but i dont even know if they are that yet. i also have been getting cramps under my belly button every once in a while but they only last a couple minutes. yesterday i had a pain in my lower back and the day before the pain was in the part of my stomach under my belly button.
i want to know an estimate because i don't want to be completely unprepared. I'm nervous to get it. does it hurt? is it hard to put in a tampon? how do you know if you got your first one??
thanks so much!!
also, my mom got hers around 13-14 yrs and my sister is 15 with still no period. will that mean I might not get mine until i'm her age?? is it possible that i'll get it before her
THANKS
and feel free to share first period stores if you want!

Since the beginning of menstruation is genetically inherited, you'll probably start yours within a year or so. It's possible your older sister's may not have started because she's inherited being a later starter from the paternal grandmother.
In general, first periods are usually very light, so may cause a bit of dampness in your underwear, but most probably won't hurt. Menstrual cramping pain begins to happen about a year and a half to two years after menstruation has first begun.
No it's not difficult to put a tampon in. It may seem that way at first, but practice makes perfect. Once you've got the hang of it, it becomes as simple as putting a glove on!
People can tell they've got their first period from seeing the bloody discharge. However, this is so light that usually only a few little dribbles of blood are seen in the underwear or on a piece of tissue after using the toilet. That's how mine first began - luckily for me I was at home at the time and was able to call my mum to help out.
Hope this helps.

Um... since you're already having "the period signs" I guess you might get it by this month or next month. When I got my first period, I didn't feel cramps and stuff. It came out of nowhere in school. Luckily I was in my last class so I got home quickly. Usually when I'm at that time of the month, I get cramps and really oily hair and skin. Just have some pads with you at ALL times and you'll be alright.
