Should I contact back a job that hasn't called?

I applied for this job that I really want about a week ago. The posting just said to send them an email with a resume.

I haven't heard anything back from them.

Should I send them another email to check up on my application? If so, what should the email say? Any suggestions on what to do?

Wait a week or two from the 1st contact, then call (or email) them to show that you are interested. Tell them that you are checking on the status of your application and use the opportunity to tell them why you are qualified for the job.

I'd call them and say you're just checking the status of your application or following up. That doesn't sound pushy. Good luck!

Most businesses cannot afford to contact everybody, so they contact only those they want. Often it takes weeks to hear. Hiring depends on the job, demand, urgency to fill the position, and whether they can get a good temporary employee working until they fill the job permanently.

Most businesses never call people back, mainly because they're lazy or just don't like your style.
