DANCE IS A SPORT!!!?
One of my friends is constantly saying that dance is not a sport. As a dancer myself, I obviously know that it is, but I need some good arguments for it. Anyone have any really convincing points? Thanks!

When I started completion team when I was 10 I had practice and classes 8 hours a week(Monday-Thursday)in studio and over an hour a day in practice at home (and I was a first year competitive dancer that only had one dance). We had competitions and team activities. We had warm ups, conditioning, team building, and mandatory summer practice, just like any other sport so yes dance is a sport. Oh, and there are tons of injuries. I've had ripped tendons in my right foot(started in my left to), planters wart in my heal, my knee caps have an injury where they are no longer properly attached, my legs can actually slightly bend backwards now from the knee cap thing, and I have issues with my hips due to splits. I still love like a football lover still loves after being put through the ringer.

Dance is an art. Sure, there are dance competitions, but that's not why dance was created. It was a form of art developed in a king's court as a form of proper etiquette. We take ballet classes just like we take music classes. It's different from going to baseball practice or something.
We are athletes and artists, and dance is an art, but it is not a sport.

Depends on the thinking of people. Some take it as a sport, some take it as a passion, some takes it like an hobby and for some it's their life.
