Will I ever be able to have another dog after my dog's death?
The dog I had was indescribably smart. I know owners always think their dog is special and they're right to a certain degree, but my dog knew sign language instead of verbal commands. She was problem solving smart. She was so intelligent it was spooky, I could go on and on about stories of her that would blow your mind. Without sounding to mushy I loved her so much. I love dogs and all animals, but I'm afraid that if I get another dog I would always be comparing her to Sasha, my dog who died, and that wouldn't be fair to the dog. I think I could love different aspects of another dog and their own special little quirks, but Sasha was one in a million, strike that, one in a billion.

Most of us long time dog owners have had that one special dog that no other dog would ever be able to live up to. Instill have my "Once in a lifetime" dog, but not for much longer as he is 13 years old and that`s a good age for a Gsd. He is my Ideal dog and in MY eyes just perfect. Me and him worked in trials competitions and he he made me very proud by getting 12 awards for his work and winning trophies in obedience.
I will be devastated when he dies.
He is the best Gsd I have ever owned in 50 years of owning them.
I got another Gsd 4 years ago and he is a lovely lad and clever and no trouble at all and I am very very fond of him, but yes, I admit I do compare him to my old fellow, but have learnt to accept him for what he is and not try and make him into what "I" want him to be. he has his very good points and I tend to...
"be to his virtues ever kind..
and to his faults a "little blind"
He will be a great comfort to me when my old dog finally dies and he will also miss the old fellow as they are great pals.
Its only natural to compare a beloved and special dog to a new dog, but no dog is ever the same as another and one learns to love a another dog in different way. You don`t "have" to be over the moon with a new dog at first but its often the fact that eventually you find you do not want to be without it and that deep inside you feel more for it than you thought you ever would.
I say, if you like having a dog then get another one, and just take time to see the dog for what it is and work on training it to be a dog you can be proud of. Training is a great way to form a strong bond with a dog. Hope this helps you a bit and Good Luck.

Yes, you'll be able to get another dog. It just takes time! It's whenever your ready for another one. I mean like Sure, Sasha was one in a million, but hey it doesn't mean your next dog cannot be aswell. A loss is about treasuring the memories you had with them. My cat died recently and I can totally relate right now. I felt as if it was the end of the world, I really did. But It's whenever YOU are Ready for a new pet. Not anyone else.
Good Luck!
I really hope I helped! x

Of course you can but you have to be open to taking on another dog. I would say go to a shelter and see if you can find a dog with the same qualities your last one had. If you choose that route remember all dogs are super intelligent so even if the dog can't do what your other dog did then remember training always is key. I am sorry for your loss just remember your dog would want you to adopt again and to smile.

Every dog I've ever had in my life was special for those days we shared together each contributing those special moments that helped me appreciate the years better.
Up north in USA, they must be protected during bitter winters and fed appropriately, so be sure that dog food high in protein is available.
If you are a good provider, save a life. I see dogs as equals because they can read minds when the going gets tough, they know more than humans.
I wouldn't doubt if some are angels sent by God to help in our lives.
My dog saved me without biting the person, just like I asked him to do mentally, eye to eye...she understood...and it all turned out well... They are special, but saving another life is precious... Many times, they save literately their owners from death. So, it's not a one way street. Bring up a gentle dog, and when it is called for other situations they can respond better than man... God Bless, and keep up the Goodness towards them.
