Is Hamas taking a leaf out of Arafat's book?

So there are 50,000 Palestinians in Gaza who are now on strike because Hamas has not paid them for 3 months. They are accusing Hamas leaders of pocketing millions for their own benefit, just like Arafat did, siphoning off funds and hiding it in overseas bank accounts instead of paying them.

I wonder how long until those in the West Bank will be disenchanted too?

Arafat's actions are not unique to his book, though he did go an extra mile with it that most people would avoid; and, Hamas has been redirecting funds to themselves for quite some time now, most likely since the beginning.

They aren't following Arafat's lead, per say, but just acting naturally for a corrupt organization. Just because they share that similarity doesn't mean that one is mimicking the other.

No these are government workers hired by Hamas.

This is simply not true. The recently formed unity government, which is located in West Bank, is responsible for the salaries and employees are blaming that government, not Hamas.
