I am 13 and my parents are getting divorced and I need some tips on how to cope.?
My parents have always had a rocky relationship and I remember them fighting a lot when I was younger and about 3 weeks ago my mom said she was thinking about splitting up with my Dad and I felt weirdly happy.A week later it hit me that we weren't going to be a family and things would never be the same again and I have started to feel miserable, I have been talking to my mom about it as she has been feeling very upset about it too and she is having to sleep on the floor in my room until my dad finds somewhere to live.I haven't told any of my friends yet because I feel kind of embarrassed but me and my sister have been talking which helps because we feel the same way.I love both of my parents so please can someone just give me some advise on how to cope with the situation.Thanksx

Yes, your life is changing, and change is always difficult. Each parent will give you different reasons as to why they are divorcing, and each one may blame the other. Try not to take sides or get in the middle of their disputes. You will probably still see both parents, but not everyday and not together as you do now. It is embarrassing when you have to tell your friends, but you'll find that many of them also have divorced parents, so you are not alone in this situation. In a couple of weeks, you'll probably feel less depressed and will come to a kind of acceptance of the situation.
