Trevor - You're hilarious! 33,000 people surveyed in 30 countries? Out of 7 billion? 1100 per country?

I guess that means about 220 out of 1100 people in the U.S. thinks it's a serious issue. I bet you wouldn't get that result if you surveyed Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles. Probably at least 70 of those 220 are from those cities. That's where liberal misinformation about "Global Warming" runs ramped and unchecked. All you have to do is look at the Hollywood lunatic-leftists like George "Looney" and Barbara Streisand.

Surveys are like temperature anomalies IMO. They are only statistics that "point" a certain direction. There's no accuracy in either.

Is that an anomaly of public opinion? LOL!

39% of Americans believe in man made global warming and 25% are skeptical. But, what difference does it make how many people or how many scientist believe in man made global warming? Go back around 2,500 years and take a poll and you would get around 99% of the people who believed the earth was flat. Even the vast majority of the scientist and philosophers of that time believe in a flat earth. Just because people believe something is real does not make it real. I for one believe the earth is getting warmer but I do not believe man has anything to do with it. Man Made Global Warming is all about money. The more people they can convince this is man made the more money they can make.

    Alex,

The largest survey ever conducted into attitudes about global warming was undertaken by GlobeScan Inc and involved over 33,000 respondents from 30 countries.

There were significant national differences but globally…

    • 65% of respondents thought global warming was “very serious”

    • 25% of respondents thought global warming was “somewhat serious”

    • 3% of respondents thought global warming was “not very serious”

    • 2% of respondents thought global warming was “not at all serious”

The country with the largest proportion of people who thought it wither serious or very serious was Japan with 98% of people falling into these two categories.

The United States was the country with the most people who considered it to be not very serious or not at all serious, 21% of respondents fell into these two categories.

    Full results are here:

    http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/pdf/apr06/C...

Other surveys conducted on a national level indicate a higher level of scepticism, particularly in the US. In a recent Gallup poll some 25% of respondents identified themselves as sceptics.

Gallup has conducted numerous such polls, they’re here:

    EDIT: TO ZIPPI

1,000 people aged 18 and over from across the whole of the US were chosen as a demographic representative of the entire country. This is how polling works, you have to have a sample that accurately reflects the population as a whole, which is what GlobeScan and ComQUEST Research did when they conducted the interviews.

Of the 1,000 people surveyed in the US there were 49% who considered global warming to be a very serious issue, 27% thought it was somewhat serious, 12% not very serious and 9% not at all serious.

I guess it depends on which poll/survey you want to look at.

My belief is that the vast majority of Americans do not buy into the notion of Catastrophic, Man-made, global warming.

Scandals within the climate science community.....Climategate Email Scandal......Hockeystick Scandal.....etc., and attempted cover-ups of same, exposed the corruption that is rampant in this field of climate science. The vast majority of scientists are ethical in their pursuits but....unfortunately....a relative few of their own have severely damaged their credibility.
