Who here hasn't spayed or neutered their pet?
Just out of honest curiosity, what is a factor for not preventing over population of animals? Money? Health? Just plain "I don't want to" type attitude? Thanks!

All my animals are neutered. At least all my big ones. ( not any of my rodents. )
I do have a rabbit that I rescued from a breeder that has a head tilt, so he is un able to get neutered.
I also have a recent rabbit that has an appointment on the 17th to get spayed.
So pretty much all my animals are fixed. I do believe it's much better to fix any animal. Unless it's a pocket pet, then the operation is extremely dangerous.
Hope this helped your curiosity:D

My grandma and i always have conversations about her barn cats and whether she would neuter all the males or spay all the females to help stop the kittens. Either way a new male would show up or the females would take off and come back once bred. For this reason i believe all animals should be spayed/nuetered. My dog is nuetered, my cat is spayed, and my horse is gelded.
The only reason an animal shouldnt be altered is if they have a purpose. Such as a high quality, fully tested stud dog. Or in my case i breed rabbits for meat.

I don't castrate my dogs. II do spay my (b)itches. Even if one of my girls wasn't a veterinarian, 60 years of dog ownership has shown me what research is now backing up. A castrated dog loses his muscle tone, is up to 4 times more likely to develop certain cancers (mostly blood and bone) undergoes a personality change and is generally not the same dog who went into surgery. For those who INSIST all that is worth doing to your lifelong companion to prevent unwanted puppies, a dog CAN have a vasectomy. Sterile w/o the health issues.
A responsible dog owners pet doesn't roam anyway, so where's the reason to castrate? There will be people who jump all over me and insist that a dog is happier, or at least doesn't notice, the absence of his testosterone. They are very much misinformed.

its good to spay and neuter ur pets for several reasons. and u should fix both ur male and female animals, when a female has a litter she can get pregnant again as soon as the litter is weaned and males can just populate everything and have 20 litters going around at once. its also important bc its a huge impact on shelters, when ppl have pets give birth and they dont want/cant get rid of these babies they go to shelters, and depending on how many animals this shelter has or how many of the same kind of animal this shelter has the animal could go down. if there r more spayed and neutered animals in one area its easier for the shelter in that area to become a no kill shelter. and thats really every shelters dream, no staff member there wants to put down animals but they do bc they have to. if there are less animals coming in, its easier to make the transition from being a kill shelter to a no kill shelter. so just all in all, its easier for everyone. its enough having thousand of strays

I don't spay any of my rodents as they are both the same gender but I would if they are different genders as I think of pets as only pets and not money makers, but yes every dog I ever had has been spayed!

Growing up our dogs weren't spayed or neutered and everything turned out alright.
After our late cats had their litters they were spayed along with our late dog.
3 years ago my mum got a new dog and she wanted her spayed, she got de-sexed at 7-8 months, mine got spayed at the same age. During the spaying of my dog our males got neutered.
Our cats also got spayed and neutered, even though they are indoor kitties.

I have guinea pigs and spaying/neutering them is quite risky. So is pregnancy for a sow (a female pig can easily die in pregnancy and after a certain age is will almost certainly kill her), but I just keep the girl and boy pigs separate.

All of my pets are spayed and neutered. There is never na excuse not to do it. The whole 'we don't have money' is a pathetic excuse. Peopel who claims this DO have money. They can afford the net, TV, and other luxuries, they just dont want to spend money on a pet

I have a black and brown male rabbit who isn't spayed. But that's because he is the only male rabbit that's able to breed and it doesn't effect his behavior he is still very sweet.
