Do kids still cruise the main drag?

I remember when i was in high school in the early 90s. Everyone in town would cruise up and down Main Street every Friday and Saturday night. Go to Sonic drive up, or McDonald's or Dairy Queen. It was a fun way to spend the weekend and show off your ride, and your girl if you had them. Granted it was a small town. But now i live in a metro city and i just don't see that type of thing going on anymore. Is it a city thing? Does it have to so with the cost of gas? I really thought it was an awesome time and it harkened back to the 50s. I definitely think our country needs a heavy dose if nostalgia. If it is going on, how does one find out?

In response to your comments on my US Government question:

Before you say I'm "too lazy" and "don't pay attention in school," maybe you should know that I am a sophomore who is homeschooled so I don't have anyone helping me. I already turned in and finished the assignment. I wasn't asking for your evaluation of my work-ethic, I was asking for help on an assignment. For you to attack a 15 year-old girl over the Internet because she asked a question says a lot about you. So fúck you, you judgmental piece of ****.

Not here. They made it illegal about a year after I graduated high school. I still do not understand what the reason for doing that was. It was fun - especially because my Dad built super awesome muscle cars, which always made me the "star".
