fm car transmitter and samsung galaxy help?

Ok so I just got a thing that uses my radio via my cigarette lighter thing and goes into my samsung galaxy s3 mini through the earphone jack.the radio station and the station on the thing are the same so it's not that. For some reason it doesn't work. Is there an app or something I could get to use?

    I have one of those fm transmitters too. It works very well & can play MP3 files over the car stereo (at least mine can). Some have a volume control & yours might be set very low. If the radio and transmitter are set to the same frequency, and the radio volume is up, it should be working. Maybe the one you got is defective.
