A mass of 120g is attached to a string through a smooth tube......?

The string passes through hole on the middle of the smooth tube. The distance from the hole to the object is 40 cm. This object is made to rotate @speed 0.8 ms^-1 & then the string is pulled down a distance of 15cm. Find the angular velocity of the object now. how do you calculate this?

(answer is 5.12 rad s^-1)

    How do you rotate at a linear velocity? I cannot visualize this. Is the ball inside or outside the tube?
