Yes, we Muslims to same sort of things too.
We donate 2.5% of our wealth every year to the poor and needy, NO other religion can say this..
We also have charities that cater for the poor and needy people. Besides this we give all year round in the name of God. We also volunteer ourselves for these charities to help the poor and needy.
We also have food banks and clothes bank. RED crescent aid which are now helping in Syria at the moment and Palestine.
What more can I say!

In Britain, ever since the Conservative government cut back on financial aid to unemployed people and started penalizing them financially if they had any extra bedrooms, there has been skyrocketing poverty amongst the poor classes. A lady in our church is a Social Worker and knows of a father with 3 children, who goes without food himself for 2 or 3 days at a time, in order to feed his children.
Well, thousands of Christian churches in Britain have set up food aid centres, and they are all run by volunteers, food provided free of charge. In our small town, various churches deal with 1 and a half tons of food every week. I have just placed a notice in our Church notice-sheet for more volunteers next week to help deal with a big surge in provisions.
Of course, other faith groups also help with chariatble work like that, and this is not a competition! I do wonder though if Muslims and other faiths open up their food supplies to all and sundry, and not just for fellow believers? Christian food banks ask no questions about anybody's faith or lack of faith. The local hungry atheist is equally as welcome to food as is a church-goer. Denomination also does not come into it with Christian food banks.
The Christian approach to charity is that charity is utterly important but is never done in order to secure Heaven. We show charity because of God's immense charity to us. He provides sun and rain for righteous and unrighteous alike.

Who made you a scholar in Islam or in Buddhism.
Charity in Islam:
“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.”
"Save yourself from hellfire by giving even half a date-fruit in charity."
"They ask you (O Muhammad) what they should spend in charity. Say: 'Whatever you spend with a good heart, give it to parents, relatives, orphans, the helpless, and travellers in need. Whatever good you do, God is aware of it.'" - The Holy Quran, 2:215
"Every Muslim has to give in charity." The people then asked: "(But what) if someone has nothing to give, what should he do?" The Prophet replied: "He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns)." The people further asked: "If he cannot find even that?" He replied: "He should help the needy who appeal for help." Then the people asked: "If he cannot do (even) that?" The Prophet said finally: "Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds, and that will be regarded as charitable deeds." - Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Hadith 524

In islam, you cannot go to heaven if you are not charitable, it is one of the five pillars.
If you are a christian, you don't have to.
