struggling with my cat!!!?
Im trying to make my outdoor cat into a house cat. its a 1 years old male, the reason why i am trying to change him into an indoor cat is because, he's quite naughty, and also when i let him go outside, he does not return until midnight (basically stays out for a day without eating anything). i am struggling to make him into a house cat because he does not use the litter box, so i have to tie a string round him and let him go outside, for him to do his business. But every time i let him go outside he keeps meowing at me saying to untie the string so i can let him go and also other cats come to my garden because he is friends with them, but whenever he sees them he starts crying to go outside but im not letting him and it is making me feel sad and guilty because it feels like i am taking away his freedom. And also he looks really depressed.
WHAT SHOULD I DO I DON'T WANT TO LOSE HIM!!!??

If he is gone all night he might actually be getting food, my cat scavenges and goes into other people's houses all the time, cheeky I know, but I can't stop him. If he's not out on his own then he's hunting in the old mill nearby for rats with his buddies. Your cat is most likely doing the same as mine, I would let him be a cat and just keep him as an outdoor cat. Maybe you should get a cat door for him so he can come back inside if you go to bed? :)

First of all don't you get blackmailed -_- because of him meowing.. :P
He probably goes out to find a mate or an animal friend who's obviously one of his kind.So... why don't you get another cat a female or maybe some another male.. so your cat wont feel lonely or all alone by himself... and cats do become naughty when things don't go the way they want them to go.. Secondly if hes not using a litter box <_< which is bad.. : /
I did a thing with my cat and it was successful, what I did was that I locked the cat in one room for some hours with food and water and the cats litter box. when she felt that she had to do her business she did it in the litter box rather than doing it somewhere else.. keep doing this for about some weeks...
And the part when you let him go out.. but with a rope around his neck.. :O that is the best way you can let him go out and don't loose the cat
