Did today just wake-up? Poetically?

Looking back on this morning, one dove

sat the wire and sang his love.

Adamantly. Sweetly.

Is it only males who ritualize,

or both?

In the afternoon, no doves call.

Only blackbirds fly, sit, preen

midnight plumage,

casting eyes for food,

not love.

Sad..

I have several doves around, I thank is the male that sings but remember she has the pick. The bird I love to see are my cardinals, the male is beautiful but I am always looking for the females because I know they are nesting near. What a awful world it would without birds!

Thought provoking, unique and skillfully written.

Then at Midnight, the auditorium empties

and the Nightingales have the stage to themselves.

A beautiful song beneath the Moon.
