LDS:Is there any contemplative role within the Church?

As in the Catholic church( and the Anglican) have nuns whose sole existence is in the prayer for God's people. Most protestant churches employ the use of the prayer chain, which is typically overseen by laity who by informal calling, maintain a prayer outreach for others' concerns, maintaining an active list of those who might benefit from prayer. Since I am physically not too capable of physical aid to others, is there a contemplative calling within the Church- where I might be of use in a spiritual way?

Update:

O my! It would seem as if I have unwittingly pointed out a shortcoming

I don't think there is anything like that in the LDS Church. I'm not even sure what a prayer chain is, but I know that at times a special fast and prayers are organized on behalf of individuals and families who are in difficult circumstances. Ward and stake councils pray for specific members, and members can request prayers in the temple for friends and loved ones. I guess the prayers at the temple come closest to what the nuns do, though I'm not sure.

I think this is a great way for you to serve though, have you talked to the bishop about something like this?

Well, we do have the prayer roll at the temple. Anyone can put forward names for that. Could you work in the temple perhaps?

As for seeking out people who need prayers, we have home & visiting teachers who can visit people and assess their needs, plus the ward council who chat about the needs of the people on a regular basis. The bishop will often request that the whole ward fast on behalf of someone in need.
