Do you tip at the Starbucks drive-thru?

I always forget they even have a tip jar until I see it in the corner of my eye as I'm driving off anyways. But, do you tip them? I don't think I would be opposed to it if the barista was exemplary, but they don't have a chance to be exemplary when the whole interaction is only 30 seconds-2 minutes long. Also, they already make minimum wage, so it's not like they are depending on it.

    You don't have to.

In general, I don't tip at places where employees already make minimum wage (or above). If it's a sit down restaurant where tips make up the majority of the employees' wages, absolutely.

Yes...tipping at Starbucks is mandatory, If you can afford a 4-5 dollar cup of coffee than you can afford 50 cents to a dollar tip. You tip a bartender for pulling you a pint of beer don't you. So what is the difference with a barista making your coffee to order?

I DO tip at Starbucks drive-through because it is a small amount of money (fifty cents to a dollar) that makes a big difference to the baristas. In tipping, Although tipping is almost always optional, I practice the Golden Rule: assuming the service is adequate, I treat them the way I would like to be treated.

Here in UK we don't have Starbucks drive thru yet, but if it is American we will copy it and then gripe about it
