Boot from external drive?
My back-up laptop runs Vista. My primary laptop got damaged, but the hard drive with Windows 8.21 is intact. It is temporarily set as an external drive. Is there any way to boot from this external drive, so that I can run Windows 8???

swap and run, make sure both laptops are of same model or else you will end-up with BSOD loop

No, external drives are locked from booting from(Unless you crack it) I would just swap the hard drives.
