More often than not, people flock towards people with a certain air of confidence, charm and approachability rather than someone with just good looks. I would assume he possesses this trait.

I have a friend who's handsome but far from drop-dead gorgeous (and he's no underwear model either) yet he's an enormous chick-magnet because he simply has an approachable air of confidence and an enormous charm about him that makes people instantly like him and gravitate towards him. Being a gay guy myself, I can definitely agree to the general consensus in that somehow he's simply... Desirable.
