Since 1992 in Russia and other former Soviet states, was anyone prosecuted for Communist atrocities?

Or, unlike the "Truth and Reconciliation" farce in South Africa, there had been real truth and Reconciliation in the former Soviet Union?

In the aftermath of the fall of the Soviet Union, there was a brief moment of openness where certain files of the KGB were made public, and certain things (like the Katyn Massacre) were acknowledged. But there was never a full fledged investigation of all the atrocities. People knew that if there were, it would take FAR too long, and so the Soviet Era was either put to bed, or "airbrushed" by former supporters.

Apparently no Communist criminals were ever prosecuted, not even Lazar Kaganovich or other butchers of his kind. Of course, what former South African police officers, Eugene De Kock and Cyril De Young, did, even if we accept that they also killed innocent people, was basically protecting innocent civilians (of all races and skin colors) from criminals (of all races and skin colors), and this is something which could never be said about criminals such as Lazar Kaganovich and his likes.

No of course not, you must remember that President Putin was the boss of the KGB and had a strong influence on internal affairs. he knows where the skeletons are buried because he ordered the killing. He is not going to put loyal subordinates on trial.
