What is the problem with the England team?
Why can't they win international tournaments?
I don't think it's about the players not caring for their country because a number of them are on over 100 caps. I don't also think it's about them being paid too much money, because German and Argentine players will be on the same kind of money, perhaps even more.
So what is the reason?
What suggestions do you have for them to actually win an international tournament?

It's all well and good saying that they need to play better, that much is obvious. The trick is HOW to allow the players to do that.
I don't think that sacking the manager is the answer. After all, we have only ever had one manager ever win anything with England. All the rest have failed, so is Roy Hodgson really that bad? He at least qualified, and also played quite attackingly during the World Cup.
I don't think 'just getting the kids in' is the answer either. Yes, it needs to happen (senior players can't go on forever) but didn't we say this in the wake of Euro 2000 which was also a disaster? And what have THOSE 'kids' done in the meantime? The likes of Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Cole, Ferdinand and Terry. Nothing much.
The answer isn't to just limit the amount of foreigners either. That needs to happen as well, but on the opening day of the Premiership, there were only 11 foreign players in our league, yet the national team was as poor as it has ever been. It was the same in the 70's as well when we failed to qualify for two World Cups.
So what is the answer? The thickos and Little Englanders won't like me saying this, but we need a much more longer term answer than anything quick fix. We need to change how English players play. Due to our isolation as an island, English football has evolved in its own distinct way, with plenty of gung-ho attacking. Whilst this makes for great entertainment, it also saps energy and is quite easy to defend against. The football which actually wins tournaments, is the western European style of starting attacks from the back, and with slower patient build up. Less energy use, less fatigue, harder to defend against, able to move teams around through clever passing.
Also, we really do need a sports psychologist to work with the players, because they can't deal with pressure situations. Going behind to a team, a very defensive minnow, a red carded player, pressure of expectation, playing against a big side in the knock-outs, England can't deal with any of them. That is why we keep on losing penalty shoot outs. We need to get them believing that they will win NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS. And that will take time.
But that, and the opening of the new St. George's Park, should help with that a long way. Look at the countries which overhauled their footballing systems. France in 1988, Spain in the early 2000's and Germany after Euro 2000. They all went on to become world champions, and I think England can do the same.

I don't get the farcical notion that the influx of Foreign players in the PremierLeague has deprived England of a World Cup squad. This has happened in the last ten years. In the seventy years before that, England was filled with English players all in Division One and all playing regularly. And what happened? One World Cup when played in England - England automatically qualified as hosts - and zero success anywhere else.
I have no idea why the England squad underperforms every time but I think we have to develop the best younger players as England players for a couple of seasons and stop cycling in and out players who are having a few good matches for a top team. Kudos to Roy for bringin in Sturridge,Sterling and Barkely. The future WC winners are in that age group.

under achieved - bad luck - at times questionable team selections - bad player performances (no-showing up on the night) - bad instructions - lack of a winter break in EPL - inability to get XI English players to stick to a game plan over 90+ minutes and become 'difficult' to play against and beat at internatioanl tournaments.... how the hell do you think all the other teams were getting out of their group stages , past round 2 and into the Finals (QF, SF and Final) ??
obviously we use too many foreigners in our teams - we do not build the nucleus of our club teams around home grown/English players, every club should have a 'world class' player good enough to either WALK into the England team or FIGHT IT OUT for a place in the England squad - we dont have enough good players , English palyers in the epl imo.
last 2 world cups have been dismal showing based on the reasons I gave above and the last reason , of too many foreigners.
imo we need to fix things asap or we'll be embarrased in Russia in 4 years time...trust me, either Roy has to get it fecking right and use these 4 years to build a side that not only plays good attacking football but can also develop reslillience and become difficult to play against and also actualy develop BALLS - that means a team that can take a battering at their end of the pitch but then in a passage of play once or twice, go down the other end show the kind of CLINICALNESS of Germany/Holland and others.
imo we have the players - but not enough of them. Sterling, Sturridge, Oxlade, Barkley are all solid.
but for the life of me I cannot believe how much of a REALITY CHECK i recieved when I saw our defence being made to look sh1t on more than one occasion at this world cup. Stupid errors and poor defending at KEY moments of matches vs teams GOOD ENOUGH and CLINICAL enough to TAKE ADVANTAGE - did.
we were not woeful at this world cup - all 3 performances were good, we were not outplayed our outclassed by anybody.
We had Italy on the ropes in that 2-1 defeat - and we gave a good account of ourselves vs Uraguay - and by the time we did take on Costa Rica i felt as if - there was feck all left to play for.
no chance of winning it in 4 years time - thats an insult to 9 or 10 teams that CAN win it and SHOULD get mentioned over us - but we can certainly improve and try to reach the finals (QF or SF at least ).
If Costa Rica could do it in 2014 , surely we can in 2018 ???
Shearer was right - our group was not that difficult - we should have been beating teams like Italy, Uraguay and Costa Rica.
but we were FOUND OUT.
thats whats the problem with the England team.

They don't play well enough to beat the teams they face.
EDIT: My main suggestion would be that they play better in order to beat the teams they face.
