TOTAL anomonous-ness on the 'net?
OK, so if I buy a new laptop, wireless enabled, at say, Best Buy, charge the battery up, and take it to my local library, and get online with no paid service at all, aren't I totally anonymous on the web? I would , of course, not use it for banking, not give my real name or anything on registering windows, etc. Is there a better way? I'm so bummed by getting my checking acct, etc stolen I want to totally be invisible if possible.

You should just avoid using your computer for things you don't want stolen. It's easy, just don't register on banking sites, credit card sites, etc., and request hard copies of bills and account summaries. Nothing is anonymous on the web.

You are not, if you search the web they know what your interests are and they will know approximately where you live within probably a 10 mile radius. So nothing is anon, sorry. (unless you change your ip)
