Is anyone else on this site feeling saddened?

I for one, just feel sad about what is happening. I know many of you will just start with the hate speech again, arent you sick of it yet?

I just read a message from a young man living in Gaza, who is scared and stated how sad he is. He also stated that many in Gaza are well aware of Hamas's tactics and how they are risking all of their lives for their own egos and lust to stay in power, He said that almost everyone he knows there wants Hamas out, but everyone is too afraid of them to do anything.

Rockets into Israel will not solve anything, and whilst i do believe Israel has the right to retaliate, unfortunately i dont think this offensive will solve anything either. It wont stop the evil that lives there, and until Hamas is out, this is just going to happen over and over again.

Hatred and warfare in this area has gone on for thousands of years. It's very difficult to stop the "we're retaliating against what you did" mentality. It's hard to see what might eventually allow the various groups to live together, but we can only hope.

Russia lost 25 million expelling the Nazis, Palestinians can sacrifice 100,000. If they're not willing to do that then they deserve 47 more years of occupation. I grew in Nablus during the First Intifada and it was very bad, but its the reason Nablus is under Palestinian control today. This is also the reason Gaza is under Palestinian control. Matter of fact, not a single square inch of land controlled by the Palestinian today didn't result from either the First or Second Intifada. This is the reality of the situation, unfortunately. Palestinians are dealing with an occupying force which only understands violence.

I disagree with Hamas, for I believe they are fighting against impossible odds, often use impermissible means of resistance (suicide bombings in the past), and they are responsible for the current escalation. But it is also true that the Israeli government are not justified angels, for it is the Israeli government that laid the foundations for that escalation by seizing an opportunity that arose from the kidnapping of the three teenagers in order to "clear out" the West Bank from Hamas operatives. While doing so constantly inflaming the public and subtly calling out for blood, which this current operation is a manifestation of.

It is completely understandable why so many Palestinians support Hamas. Hamas is responsible for much of the infrastructure in the Gaza strip from hospitals to schools to orphanages. Israeli analysts have stated that about 90 percent of Hamas's budget goes to social welfare programs and the other 10 in weapons. Like American voters, for example, Palestinian voters don't vote solely on foreign policy. Most Americans prioritized the economy over the criminal Iraq war. When people are living in harsh conditions of war, occupation, poverty; support for violent resistance skyrockets.

Hamas will not be weakened or destroyed by these Israeli operations. In fact support will most likely rise by these air raids. The only way to dismantle them is to destroy their support from the people, and Israel has not even come close at doing a very good job at this (illegal settlements are one example).

I have gotten posts after posts on my social media networks of Palestinian friends who know relatives, friends, neighbors, or people killed yesterday and today at 9 am or 2 am or this or that time, and it's surreal. Imagine you had no where to go and there were bomber jets roaming the skies. This is insane and not how you achieve peace.

Very sad but how does anyone think that establishing a country based on a made up myth and built on land theft is going to turn out any other way other than horribly.

There will be peace when Zionists admit they are wrong about everything.

IDF bombs indescriminately being dropped on Palestinians that have nothing to do with Hamas, or the alleged killing of three dead Jews won't solve anything.

Indeed, it just makes me sad. Many people are interested in one of the sides losing and suffering, instead of peace. Peace is what everyone needs, not ethnic cleansing (I have seen people from both sides supporting the ethnic cleansing of Israeli Jews/Palestinians) or any other kind of bullshit, even if formally it would mean "justice" (It does not!!!).

How exactly will we ever see peace if so many people are not really interested in it?

Another thing, I rarely see any real political arguments here. Most of them quickly turn into disgusting sarcastic hate speeches and insults.

That's the main problem of most humans. They are stupid.

Yes, it is indeed very sad. Moreso that many use this as an excuse to bash Israel instead of fighting the terror organization that makes everyone's lives miserable- Hamas.
