Do you have to be a police officer first to be a forenic photographer?
So right now I am 17 years old an I'm looking for a career in photography but involving dead people. I know it sound weird. But a forensic photographer sounds perfect. But the problem is I don't really want to be a police officer and I heard that you have to be one first and also be a forenisic photographer. Is this true? Can you have your main job just be forensic photographer or will they not hire you? Thanks!

It doesn't matter what your job in the force is as long as you are working in the field it is mandatory to go through the academy and learn everything about the law. As long as you're in the field you must have field training. What you most likely should do is go to university and take a course regarding the position to learn more about it. Then after the Academy you can either apply for that position first or what will most likely get you in easily is to work as an officer first to get used to the atmosphere and what not. Also you'll be more used to being around dead bodies first instead of just skipping straight to it. Its different to see a body in person than just in a picture, or on TV,
