Yingluck is a girl...the female ex prime minister. I think you mean Taksin's sister. And she assumed his political title because she ran in the election and won the [allegedly corrupt] vote.
Why did she run for office? Because she wanted to keep the position in the family and continue to carry out her brother's policies.
