Why does yahoo allow those that don't like your answer to report it?

An overwhelming amount of my answers get reported and I have appealed and have not heard back from yahoo. The least they could do is explain why? It seems that since it is in the politics section it is more of a don't like my opinion thing. How to get yahoo to see this is ridiculous?

Update:

This place is a cesspool!

Update 2:

I have just been in touch with yahoo. Apparently I was targeted by an individual and my answers are being restored!

Looking at your other answers, they seem to all (or virtually all) be in reply to 'Chat' questions (which are violations), and replying to/with chat is also a violation.

According to Yahoo rules, questions & answers should be useful to others - fact-seeking - rather than chat or opinion based.

It's just the set up all it take is 2 or 3 sometimes more and in rare occasions only one report depending on the :trust level" of the reporters and the poster and posts are deleted, if you feel you have been wronged you should appeal. If you post in controversial categories i.e. politics, government, religion, gay lesbian, chances of being reported by those who disagree is a common issue.

IMO you are violating the guidelines & being fairly reported. It's strange that most people who are reported cannot admit they have broken the rules.I do know people report because they don't like you,I was reported by my stalker just yesterday for telling a user that you can't delete a Q once it is answered or resolved.Go figure! But I do find that most Qs reported have broken the rules, usually for chat.

It's quite possible that people report because they "don't like" an answer.

The reality is that reports on this basis carry no weight. Reports that stick are those that come from users with a high trust rating (TR), and you get this from a history of reliable reporting.

"Don't like" may be a factor - a lot of us don't like spamming , trolling, ranting, and other timewasting garbage. But you only get reporting trust when that dislike operates entirely within the framework of the Y!A guidelines and Terms of Service.

Yahoo doens't allow or disallow anything

this site is moderated by all of us because Yahoo isn't going to spend millions on salaries of thousands of staff to moderate the site

also, there is clearly a staff shortage and lack of training with Customer Care staff because they ignore most appeals and they are known to reinstate violations and deny non-violations, which doesn't help the user to understand the rules

from your comment: "The questions are still there and so are the other answers which would mean that I have a stalker."

aside from questions being a little bit more immune to reporting that answers, you have to realize that when someone reports, not all that they report will be deleted - some answers will remain unless more reporters follow their report

there is no one stalking you - this is just a case of a reporter stumbling upon a violation and reporting it - whether or not it drops is not up to that reporter but a computer algorithm that determines the trust rating (TR) of the reporter so maybe the one who reported you have only some TR and can't delete every thing they report

you can be sure that if a legitimate reporter finds a chat question, they will first report any answers that are also violations (it is not a violation to answer to chat as long as you answer the question and do not also break another rule), and then they report the question - some just report the question and ignore the answers

you are answering some Qs that are violations for rant and chat - best to avoid those and pick questions that have some value so you can give a meaningful answer instead of being part of a discussion or debate, which is not what YA is for

this might help reduce the number of violations you get

It seems to be almost a matter of luck whether your appeal gets a response. I suspect that they only have a fairly small staff operating the site (it is, after all, a free service - so they won't be spending much on it). If there are not enough people to respond to all appeals, it may just be that they deal with what they can and the rest are ignored.

I ran into this problem once- and that was because a troll was trying to treat the 'correct answers thing' as a game. I did appeal and posted a copy of my answer, and Yahoo did restore the answer after they realized they made a mistake.

Without knowing your posting habits, I can't say anything about the odds of the other possibility- which is that there might have indeed been a problem with your response. Have you written about the answers?

    Good luck.
