If your parents had raised you in a different religion, would you believe differently today?

I've spoken to many people who say that they only believe in a specific god because their parents told them to. Often these are the same people who say that their god is objectively the correct one. I don't understand.

No I don't think so. Because no matter the religion, all religions are the same. Krishna is the same Allah who is Jesus.

Sab ka Malik Ek hai. Everyone's God is one.

How about if you listen and watch the story of conversion to Islam, and make a conclusion?

    Yes and yes.

In the end each person who seeks to know God must search him out and the only way to do that is study his word the Bible. Then we will know how he thinks, feels and wants, in the best interests of his created beings. Following a 'religion' is not necessarily following what God wants. It might just be following what man has decided. 2 Corinthians 11:14 states: "for Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light." So false beliefs abound. The only way to find the truth is in the scriptures and to follow what they say, not what we want them to say. Let the Bible be the final arbiter and, with God's help, we will find the truth.

My folks raised me in the Methodist Church. I became soured when they

changed over to Untied Methodist for reasons I'll not go in to. I'm now a

member of an Independent Christian Church and very happy in it (my

    own choice).

Probably not. I was plenty religious growing up, but I eventually found my own path. Probably would've happened no matter what religion I was raised in, although I might not have been so bold about it if I were raised in a strict religion like Islam.

    Dear Friend,

What people don't realize is that religion is a 'personal' preference. It has nothing to do with being 'raised' in a home where a specific religion is taught.

If it isn't in the Word of God, then it isn't absolute truth.

God desires to commune/fellowship with His creation. A "personal" that means one on one...relationship with me, you and all of humanity. But, it is OUR sin that 'blocks' that covenant relationship with Him. And, it is only through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit can anyone be 'reconciled' (restored) into a 'right' relationship with a Holy God. Think about that.

Religion is a bunch of do's and don'ts. God offers us a "relationship" where we commune with God and He teaches us through His Spirit (the Holy Spirit) what we need to do to live a safe, abundant life in Him.

    Tender blessings,

I don't know. I was raised Christian and now I'm an atheist. I think I would likely become an atheist if they did not raise me very strictly.
