Why did Western society did horrible things?

Greed, Pride, and Stubbornness; all mixed in with the irony of these things being done in the name of God, at least for half of the terrible genocides throughout history. Through some of the European conquests/slaughter onto South America, Florida and other islands, a preist would be in the pack of these expeditions.

Communication was miminal, at least how we know it today.Hence, the awareness of these terrible things did not exist on a large scale. Many monarchs were lied to by these leaders to glorify themselves, in the pursuit of these royal glorification, they did whatever was necessary.

Many countries were built on the bones of genocide. The European colonization of South America is (arguably) the biggest act of unprovoked aggression in known mankind history.

Why do you think the eastern society was that perfect with women considered property more so than in the western society at least in the western side if the women was not married she had rights in the east she had no right at all she will need to marry to be protected by husbands rights.

Also in the east millions upon millions of people were mutilated to become slaves called eunuchs, millions of girls were taken from their families to become servants and concubines to emperors and officials. Also lets not forget the wars the eastern society had were do you think the mongols came after all and do you know how many millions of people they slaughtered innocent people and many of them were children. but you know what the worst part is?

Women in this day and age are considered less then a man a lot less, have you heard how families kill young female babies because they are not considered as valuable as a boy also did you heard that many young women many minors in eastern culture are sold as "wives" by their families to all kind of losers who can not and do not want to find a wife on their own.

So with all its faults the western society was, is and will be better then the eastern one actually then all societies because it actually has more compassion tries to respect all genders the same and apologized to all the bad things they did and do not kill babies because their girls.

Do not blame the western society for their past mistakes praise them for their good ones in the present because their the greatest society that ever existed.

The same reason Eastern societies did horrible things, and African societies did horrible thing and Native American societies did horrible things. For religion, resources and power.

Pray tell when was there a period that people somewhere were not doing horrible things to someone else.

Hmmm. the Aztecs committed genocide on other tribes, often with sacrificial rituals. Cannibalism, slavery and torture took place amongst certain tribes of American natives. In the middle east and Africa slavery was rife back to the bronze age. Tribes killed other tribes...they are STILL doing it (and slavery still exists there.) In the far east, there were warrior cultures who frequently slaughtered each other, and where women had their feet bound till they were crushed putrefying nubs.

No group is innocent of some kind of atrocity; to believe in false 'golden ages' is ridiculous. Even those tribes who lived in relative peace lived hard lives and most died before the age of 40.

Because Western society is not as civilized as you think. Who are the first world rich nations the West, who has a bigger military and threat the West, which society caused more damage to the world the WEST.

Yes, I agree the West did do horrible things in order to achieve greatness, power, and wealth. Yes. again what they did was wrong but. If no one made them change then Human progress would have been very different today.

That's how empires are made.

Britain's treatment of people in Africa & Asia were deplorable,including WW2 in the east, where they abandoned people and left them to the mercy of the Japanese.

The aborigines of Australia,were nearly wiped out during the 18th & 19th centuries.

Expanding and improving is human nature.

But the way the way the west did it was not human.

It was barbaric.

Evil.

And completely displayed their lack of civilization, racism and crumbling social system.

The answer is the same as the one to the question "Why did all the societies of the world do horrible things?"

Thumb through a history book. You'll see thousands of wartime atrocities. I personally feel the difference between a good man and a barbarian is about 4 meals. Then there are the religious zealots who will do anything to please their god. Ex Islamic suicide bombers. Which is why I'm an Atheist.
