How much money a week will I need to study abroad in Texas?
I'm spending my first semester of my second year (Aug-Dec 2014), at the University of Texas at San Antonio and I am attempting to draw up some sort of budget. I am having my fees, rent and food in terms of a meal plan paid for but by my parents/student finance. However, I am of course going to want to eat out, spend the odd weekend travelling/sight-seeing and I will need to buy books, pay for gym classes etc... How much money in with USD or GBP do you think I'll need a week?
Thanks in advance

Check the school's web site. They probably have a gym-several of them. You can work out, lift weights, swim, run track. As an enrolled student you can use them.
I would estimate books at $1200 for the year. It come out to be a lot less.
Traveling- realize that you need to be 21 at many hotels to check in. Make sure the hotel you want to stay at accepts 18+ to check in. You will need a credit card in YOUR name. Hotel budget at somewhere decent, safe and clean- $75-$125 per night
many college students do not eat out. They order in pizza- but most keep dining out on a low budget. Many student get by with spending very little money each week- they keep spending to personal items and laundry
At a modest restaurant like Olive Garden- you should budget $25 for dinner and tip. (ALWAYS tip your waiter at least 15% of the total bill) Alcohol will up the bill. You need to be 21 to drink.
You will not need $300 a week, every week. You may spend that and more if you travel over the weekend. but in general - go out for dinner, see a movie-$100 is enough.

You will need a minimum of $300 per week, or at least $1200 per month to live in San Antonio.
