Guitar help!!?
I started playing the guitar three days ago, but I am having some problems.
First: I find it hard to play open chords. I try playing open A, but I can't get the A and D strings to sound. My fingertips are too far from the fret to make the string sound. But I see in videos that people have their fingertips in the same position and their chords sound right. How can I correct this? I am using extra light strings too by the way.
Also: I find it difficult playing single notes on the middle strings without hitting other strings. I am trying to use the tips of my fingers, but it's difficult to wrap my hand at the angle I need to do so precisely without having to sacrifice a legato sound. Any tips on how to correct this as well?
And I can't afford to get guitar lessons, so a paid teacher is not an option right now. Thanks!

You can't hold chords in the first day. Try some fingering practices to get your fingers tuned up. You shall have a skilled hand to hold chords after a few weeks of fingering exercises. And if u r talking about bar chords. It should take at least two months if you are a starter.
Anyway, you have to gain control over your fingers especially those which you need to hold the chord. Google for finger exercises. Many are free for beginners. While others are paid. You may wanna check out those free sites. Goodluck :)

It's hard to do anything when you haven't played that long. Start out with doing some finger exercises. You can look up some on YouTube or just google. Also ultimateguitar.com is great place to find out more skills and learn basically every song. Just keep going at it and learn the basics first and your fingers will stretch.

You know what is painful to do but it works after 1-2 weeks depending on your practising? bends!!! bend all the strings up down up down mostly in the high and the LOWER frets, your fingers will get calluses fast and then you can start doing all of those awesome chords.

Your problems are the result of not being able to play the guitar. You need to learn to do those things.
