why are they building the new world trade center so tall?

I mean it's once again 100 stories tall, why? Not to offend, just wondering....

Update:

Okay, but isn't it dangerous? 9/11 sort of proved that...not trying to offend

I agree - 100 stories is ridiculous. Architects have studied the maximum height for buildings from an economic point of view (including time to reach upper stories and risk of being so high in the air) and, as I recall, a 36-story building was the tallest that is reasonable. Kim is incorrect; there is not that much demand in lower Manhattan. There is plenty of office space in the city.

The Twin Towers provided very important and economically valuable office space. There's simply a great demand for that in lower Manhattan, and the new building meets that need.
