Peurto Rico, has already taken the first step. Next will be agreeing on a state constitution. my guess it will take about 15 to 20 years to statehood because a Republican congress will slow the process. other states made it in about 5 years. a 51st state will require congress to be reapportioned. Puerto Rico will get about 5 representatives in addition to 2 senators so that will be a major shift in power for our nearly equally divided House and Senate, probably in the Democratic Party direction.

Star 51? Puerto Rico has passed on statehood a few times. The USVI is too small. Guam? Not sure. Washington DC keeps crying about it, but is not politically or economically viable. You could break CA into a North & South. NJ also...
