Mercedes Benz with a manual transmission? It is in good to very good condition. The owner showed me a receipt in which he/she put an engine that cost upwards of 7 thousand dollars. Owner claims new tires and other repairs have been done. Owner asking for 10 grand even. It is in southern california. Thanks.

Really? The owner told you everything and you are just going to trust that. Has your mechanic looked at the receipts and inspected the vehicle?
I Googled Hemmings Motor classifieds and judging by a car being offered for sale in the classifieds, it would seem $10,000 is way too high for this particular car.
