    The plague was considered to be punishment of men for their sinful ways and society. The dying converted and the survivors considered themselves blessed and many devoted their lives to praising him.

    The church was enriched financially. Some corrupt clergy actually convinced people to give EVERYTHING they had to the church in exchange for absolution, immunity, and a Get Into Heaven Free pass.
