If you want paint and texture, if it were me I would do Venetian Plaster! It is fun and messy, but easy to do. Lowes or Home Depot carry it. I decorated an entire 56 room hotel with the product and got nothing but complements. You pick what ever color you want, I loved Verde, a really pretty green and I really liked Portabella Mushroom. Practice on a piece of sheetrock first to get the feel of it! You spread it on like you would mud, or joint compound. Don't prime the walls first, it won't stick and you can put it right on top of wallpaper. Spread it on, make you swirls or what ever design you want. Do a small section at a time as it dries quickly and would look bad if you try to go back over it once it has started to dry. once it has dried, usually overnight, take a flat wide metal tool and burnish it, by rubbing it over the plaster, certain parts of it start to shine . It gives a 3 dimensional color and texture, lasts for ever, and is really easy to touch up. like I said practice first with sheetrock, and Lowes will give color sample to start with. It is pricey for a gallon, but if you figure, sheetrock replacement/ repair/ sanding, priming/ two coats of paint, plus labor it is easily cheaper, and the end result is fantastic! I am a professional in the states, if I was to do your house, I would charge you, 350.00 if you bought the plaster. About 5 gals, 30.00 gal, so you are looking at 500.00. You would never have to touch that wall again, and that's why I used it at the hotel, you can throw a suitcase at it, kick it - nothing! Have fun and if you have any questions I don't mind posting my email---cavellkim@yahoo.com, that is in US. Kim
