why is my car in limp mode?
Hi I have a 95 Toyota Celica coupe which I bought used from my grandpas shop not too long ago. I have previously had a problem in which the car will accelerate very slowly from a complete stop and was informed (by AAMCO) my car was in limp mode due to bad shift solenoid.
Well my grandpa got his friend who is a transmission mechanic to fix it at a discounted price and basically my receipt says he 'fixed' the "shift solenoid, transmission fluid changed, and filter gasket" (not knowing what he did to the gasket) and the car ran perfectly for two weeks and now it's back in limp mode. I don't know what is wrong with it if all that stuff was fixed.
PLEASE HELP IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING!!

Limp mode and OBDII codes are separate things with some common causes. If the codes were reset that won't affect limp mode. However, if you still have an active code on the shift solenoid the system will not come out of limp mode until the fault that is producing the code is corrected. If a shift solenoid is misbehaving all the resetting and battery disconnecting in the world won't make it right.
