If you are a Singapore national, you are not eligible for a Working Holiday or a Work and Holiday Visa. That means you will not be able to work in Australia while you are here and must be able to pay for everything.

Australia uses the Australian dollar, we stopped using pounds in 1966. As a young person staying in backpacker hostels, you should work on $150 a day for accommodation, food, transport and sightseeing. Add to that the cost of travel between cities. Flying is the best way to get around and it is often the cheapest.

How long are you coming for? If you were coming for, say, four weeks, you should look at flying from Singapore to Darwin then travel south to Alice Springs and Uluru. From there fly to Melbourne then Canberra and Sydney. From Sydney go to Cairns in far north Queensland then fly home from Cairns or Darwin. You could spend sufficient time in each place to enjoy it. If your holiday were for three weeks, cut out Melbourne and Canberra. If it was five weeks, add Tasmania.

Book your internal flights in advance and your $150 a day should be enough for the rest.
