Help! Defective DVD won't eject from my computer...does anyone know what to do?

I use ITunes and I click on eject and it just freezes up my screen and I have to turn my computer off in order to get out. Any suggestions?

    its not the dvd thats bad its the program that is crashing.... first press the eject button on the dvd drive... then if that does not work get a paper clip and stick it in the small hole in the dvd drive... it will open up
