If they actually said something in a language they don't know I'd be impressed. But to babel random syllables....any 2 year old does that.

No, and when I hear alleged Christians speak against it, I have serious doubts upon the validity of their salvation, even some Big Named Evangelist have recently gone on Crusades to attack the Charismatic Church even to go so far as to accuse them of committing Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit,

There is No Reason what the Holy Spirit would pour Himself out on the 1st century Church and not the 21st Century Church and then write to the Church in Corinth instructing them on it's use.

God does NOT change, Now satan has done a job Infiltrating the Church with people faking the gift, I actually have the ability to spot those people, some how I can tell.

There are at least four uses or purposes of unknown tongues, according to the New Testament: (1) as the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4; 10:46; 19:6); (2) as a gift to edify the church when the tongues are interpreted (1 Corinthians 12:10); (3) as a sign for unbelievers that they might believe (1 Corinthians 14:22); and (4) as a God-given provision for effective prayer and praise (1 Corinthians 14:2, 14). In all these cases, tongues is the same in essence, but different in purpose. The misunderstanding concerning these distinctive uses and purposes has brought great confusion among Christians.

Scripture records that the early believers, upon being baptized in the Spirit, began to glorify God in languages unknown to them but imparted by the Holy Spirit. Tongues is the same evidence today when believers are baptized in the Spirit. All believers, when they are baptized in the Spirit, will speak in tongues. However, not all will exercise the spiritual gift of tongues in the church assembled for worship. All will have the evidence, but not all will exercise the public gift of tongues which requires the additional operation of the gift of interpretation of tongues (1 Corinthians 14:12,13). First in a public worship service someone is moved to speak in tongues; then someone is moved by the Spirit to give an interpretation of the utterance. Operating in this realm, the Spirit provides an effective and powerful means of corporate adoration and worship of God. The purpose of the gifts of tongues and interpretation is to edify or build up the church (1 Corinthians 14:2-12).

Praying in tongues during private devotions is an additional ministry of the Holy Spirit. Many believers today testify that praying in tongues greatly enriches their spiritual lives. The limitations of intellect are overcome as the Holy Spirit quickens the human spirit in glorious expressions of worship and adoration. The quandary of limited vocabulary and the inability to express feelings and concerns of the soul disappear as a Spirit-imparted language flows out from the heart. It is as if heaven and earth, time and eternity, God and man all compress together in a glorious act of worship.

No, people with Tourette's generally say words that are actual words out of the blue. Oftentimes it's a swear word and they can't control it for whatever reason.

Speaking in tongues isn't even actual words, so it doesn't compare.

It's an obscure phenomenon that no-one can conclusively prove In the modern day.

Believers use "speaking In tongues" as leverage to manipulate the gullible people Into being theists.

No, but the modern day version of it is not the miracle described in the scriptures.

Back then, the way the miracle worked is that you could instantly speak Chinese. Today, if you say, "oosha magoosha alicio finulisia jumno requistier" some say you've performed a miracle from God. All that stuff ended when the apostle died out (Ac 8:18).

I don't know if it's real or fake. I know I prayed to God for me to "speak in tongues" and it didn't work. And I tried to before that to no avail.

Speaking in an unknown tongue is gift given to the believer as an aid to prayer. This is because sometimes, “we do not know how to pray as we ought”. Through the gift of tongues we are given the ability to communicate with the Father in a language unknown to us.

(Jude 1:20) But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit...

The Apostle Paul taught that speaking in tongues edifies the believer, while tongues-interpreted and prophecies edifies the Church!

The 'smart alecs' I know, are go-getters who pursue the Truth, and they all speak in 'tongues'

Having had many church Pastor's that never received this gift, they had no interest or ability to pass it on to their congregations, but would teach various negatives against this supernatural gift given by God for the encouragement and ability to pray thru the Holy Spirit.

"I will pray with my mind, and I will pray with my Spirit." When you are a Christian, praying in the Spirit, refers to praying through the ability of God's Spirit praying through you. This is a prayer that is always answered, because God answers what the Holy Spirit prays through His children. It does take a lot of faith for some; because we don't know what we are saying or praying when you pray this way.

But for those who have not experienced it yet, it is a powerful gift of God; but I believe God does not give Gifts of miracles, or healings to all; so not all have this gift either. I never received it until years later in my walk with God; it changes my prayer life completely and helps me pray supernaturally, apart from my own thoughts or desires. Study I Cor. 12 thru 14 for more information please.

GLOSSOLALIA: Speaking in tongues bears no resemblance to that described in the bible where everyone that heard understood clearly whilst the modern version is just psychobabble! It is also related to xenoglossy, which is speaking in a natural language that was previously unknown to the speaker after a brain injury! No surprise it was started in America by slaves from countries that practiced Voodoo!
