Is it bad that when my employer calls for me to pick up extra hours, i don't answer their calls?

I already have full time hours, it'd be extra if i did, so i'm not obligated to go in right?

Well not really, but it will show that you are a hard worker, and it will make your employer count more on you than others... usually the more expandable you are the better chances of getting a promotion....

Plus, a little extra money wouldn't hurt.

Not as long as you have no prospects or expectations of promotion. You don't promote the guy who just does the minimum, even when he has seniority.

Oh and not as long as they're not laying people off, when you're deciding who gets laid off, you never lay off your go to man, because he makes your life easy.
