Are guinea pigs good pets?

Not all pet stores are bad! Use your judgement, look around at store, look at the cage, is it clean? Do they have clean water and food? If you can, watch how to employees interact with them. Some pet stores give all pet stores a bad rep. Many will care for their pets if they got sick, and they have the resources for this. If you can adopt, then sure, yes do this and save a life. My pet store guinea pig outlived the average number of years guinea pigs live. Plus many pet stores have agreements to help if your guinea pig was to be sick. They do make great pets, they're very social and easy to handle once you get them use to you. They learn to recognize you and love your affection. They just need to have their cage cleaned often so they don't end up with ring worm. Otherwise, they are great pets, and I've never had one that was a biter and I've interacted with many of them. Also, getting one as a baby makes it easier to adapt to you.

They can make great pets if you like that sort of thing. They're prey animals so they're naturally quite shy and skittish, it can take a while for them to warm up to you.

Guinea pigs aqre social herd animals that thrive in pairs, so if you get any it should be at least two. Adopt from a shelter or rescue if at all possible, and avoid pet shops. Adult or baby doesn't matter, but an adult is more likely to be used to handling and you can get a better idea of their personality.

Guinea pigs need a pretty large cage. Two females need an absolute minimum of 7.5sq ft of cage space, two males need at least 10.5sq ft. Look into C&C cages if you haven't already.

Guinea pigs are cute and can make great pets, but theyre not my favorite lol. Theyre prey animals in the wild so theyre naturally shy and skittish so picking them up can sometimes be a challenge. And they like to nip sometimes, my fav rodent (if a Guinea pig is even a rodent, lol) is a pet rat or gerbil,i love them.

yes red eared sliders are ALOT of work (as I also have one) and guinea pigs are great pets (I have two)never get one from a pet store get one from a breeder. a baby one is better but if you recue them from the SPCA or something a grown one will be better (but be warned if you do this they'll probably came from a bad home :() and just hold you guinea pig lots when there little so they'll get used to it when there all grown : ))))) HOPE I HELPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They make great pets, but you should be aware of one thing. You cannot immunize a guinea pig against rabies. You can give it a vaccination, but it won't do anything.

They make great pets! Don't buy from a pet store. Also get 2 or they will get depressed and mourn.
