Straight pin in toddler clothes at JC Penney?
I purchased a set of PJs at JC Penney over the weekend & I wanted to try them on my DD before I took the tag off to wash them. I put the shirt on her & she started crying. I pulled the shirt off thinking the tag was sticking her & I see a straight pin stuck in the shirt. It had stuck my daughter & it drew blood. I cleaned her puncture wound up & applied a Bandaid to make DD happy.
I was curious if this was common practice or if someone was supposed to take it out & it was overlooked. I did call the store & mention it & the manager gave me corporate's number if I wanted to call them. I'm a little bit ticked that my DD was stuck, but I'm not going to call & make a huge fuss.
So, are there usually straight pins in kids clothes?

I recently bought a men's button up shirt. I knew that on occasion, pins are in clothing. But, this shirt had NINE of them. I was so surprised. Now I know why my father had a pin cushion on his dresser!!
But, in children's clothes? Never have I pulled a pin out of a child's garment. I have purchased MANY children's garments, prior to my children being born and LOTS more clothing for them. I have NEVER seen or had to remove a pin from a child's garment. That just seems unnecessary to me.
Nonetheless, as parents, I suppose we now have to check our children's new clothes to be sure they are safe to wear. Oh, Lord, what next?

It's been a long time since I bought new clothes, other than the occasional blue jeans or socks. But way back when I used to buy new shirts and stuff, yes, it was completely normal to find not one but several straight pins in them. They're there to keep them neatly folded and unwadded up until you get them home and begin destroying them. Back when I bought new stuff like that I had developed a pretty good idea of where those pins would be. Missing one and getting pricked is a pretty good incentive to learn.

It is normal to have pins in clothing and it is the purchaser's responsibility, not the stores, to remove those pins. I am so sorry that your child was injured and I am sure it was very upsetting for you too.

Yes, it's normal to have pins in clothes to keep them folded to look nice.
Up to buyer to check them over before using.

It isn't uncommon but of course most parents would check new clothing over carefully before putting it on an infant.
