The Canadian Federal labour Laws, do not address the issue of meal breaks etc.for workers. ?

I work for CPR on a certain job and because they are a federally regulated company, my managers think they can work me (and others) for up to ten hours )in all weather conditions), without any sort of meal/rest break. Out of the goodness of their hearts they will let us take 20 minutes (when convenient) and that time starts when we leave the train and we must be back on in the time).

We all feel that this no breaks practice is illegal and would like some kind of proof etc. that is in fact illegal and we should be entitled to more that what we are getting. Does anyone have the correct answer

What does your collective agreement say on the issue of breaks?

As I cannot seem to add anything to the question, our collective agreement has nothing about meal breaks for switchers!

take it up with your Union via your shop steward

your collective agreement probably lays out your rights and theirs

    read that
