Can I use the intake on my compressor to pull a vacuum on my car air conditioner?
If I can get the fittings to hook my car air conditioning repair manifold to my regular Emglo air compressor intake, will it pull enough vacuum from the a/c system to effectively purge it before I add the refrigerant? Will it pull too much vacuum? Do I risk damaging either my A/C system or my compressor? The reason I ask is that 3-stage vacuum pumps are $150 and I already own the Emglo, and I'm just trying to avoid unnecessary expense.

There are approved vacuum pumps available at rental places.
You could call ahead to be sure they have fittings for your type of refrigerant. also, they end up at pawnand loan places after they disappear. you could own one if that was the need.
The possibility of pulling more than 18 in. hg. at sea level is not possible. however it is possible to pull less than that amount.
that would not serve your purpose because the damp must be fully evacuated to get it to turn to vapor and be pumped out.
The time it would take to connect the wrong tool for the right job, could just waste your time and money.
I cant stop you from doing what you want with your own tools, but I would use the phone first if I were you.
It seems like your compressor would get hot and be unpredictable, but I really can't say, I dont know if its reciprocating or valved the same

Easy answer. Nope. Running a traditional air compressor under vacuum long enough to correct pull vacuum on your AC would destroy your compressor.
